NetMoms survey: parents support KiTa strike on a broad basis many kindergartens in Germany are now in the warning. NetMoms asked 250 mothers for their opinion on the strike. The survey shows a surprisingly high level of acceptance and support for the strikers educators. Cologne, May 19, 2009 – many educators in German day-care centres are on strike today. NetMoms has requested from mothers and 250 mothers took part in the survey. What do the parents of this strike? They support the goals of the educators? They also affected? Change the opinion of the parents, if they are concerned? Parents support the strikes – the survey shows that German parents support the strikes on a broad basis. 62% of parents find the strike in order or even actively support him. Only 20% more likely reject him.
The goals of the strike are supported. A vast majority of 69% of parents is of opinion that kindergarten teachers should earn more. Also many parents complain that much to large groups in Kindergartens, as well as the strong strain of educators and children as a result. A mother writes: here is the teacher alone with 25 children. How to can she take care of doing? Until now only a few acutely affected gave 66% of surveyed mothers in the study to, at present, still not specifically to be affected by the current strike.
Interestingly, support for parents affected by the strike is but still higher than in the non-affected parents. Instead of the average 8% even 20% contribute to the affected parents actively on the strikes. Step parents and family–affected mothers in almost 50% of the cases indicate that the father, the mother or the child’s grandparents take care. But also contingency plans of the kindergartens seem to be access. At least 25% of the concerned mothers say that. Some rely on friends or take a holiday in the worst case.
